Covid-19 Policy

We have prepared this guide to help our clients, tenants, staff and partners protect against the risk of infection when carrying out risk assessments and other safety checks.

Latest UK Government Guidance as of 23 March 2020 shows that work carried out in homes and buildings can continue, provided that the occupants and NRAC representatives are well and have no symptoms of infection. We have provided a direct link to the relevant section regarding Covid-19 and work carried out in people’s homes in the GOV.UK site below.

UK Government Guidance on Work carried out in people’s homes

Landlords’ obligations have not changed. Tenants have a right to a healthy, warm and safe place to live and it is in the best interests of both tenants and landlords to ensure that properties are free from hazards where reasonable and safe for you and NRAC staff and partners, in line with Government guidance.

When completing an assessment or inspection, our partners will adhere to the following Public Health England guidelines :

  • Complete the assessment or inspection as quickly as possible.

  • Keep a minimum distance of 2 metres apart from all members of the household.

  • Wash their hands frequently (and thoroughly) on entry and again before departing the property.

  • Wipe down all surfaces they come in contact with.

  • Avoid touching anything unrelated to the assessment or inspection.

Further to government guidelines, our partners will NOT carry out assessments and inspections in the following circumstances:

  • If they are showing any symptoms of the virus (cough, shortness of breath, fever), no matter how mild.

  • Where tenants are self-isolating or in quarantine.

Also, our partners will avoid contact with the following high-risk groups:

  • Those aged 70 or older

  • Those who have a long-term medical condition, for example, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, cancer or high blood pressure

  • People whose immune systems are compromised

  • Pregnant women

NRAC promotes positive physical and mental wellbeing and in these unprecedented times we are taking a pragmatic, common-sense approach to maintaining safe environments.
